"Look, fishy!" Shows the fish in the fish tank in the first floor of the Duke University Children's Hospital as well as the hospital itself. He was very fixated on capturing a picture of the fish, but he has not only captured an image of his subject, but the subject's surroundings, and further, his environment and world as he battles monosomy 7 (type of leukemia).

"I got it!" My little photographer would always say, "I got it!" whenever he took a picture. Taken at Duke University Ronald McDonald House.

"Where are you most affected by Parkinson's?" "My feet." "I like your shoes." "Thank you, they're new."

I worked on two portrait photography projects with the Duke University Hospital and my professor, Doctor John Moses:
Purple Journey
A bright, energetic, and curious boy who loves everything purple tells his story with images, showing the rest of the world the strength of innocence in the face of leukemia.
Community
A disease brings unique individuals together, and they form a community that unites them and their families together in the journey battling against the illness.
As a photographer, I aim to place the viewer in the perspective of the photo's subject as a way of "true" communication--exploring and unerstanding the unique viewpoint of an individual on their journey in life, and in this case, the journey with a medical condition.
